Supporters Demand Arrest of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of the actress are calling for that a person who breached a barrier and touched the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A circulating clip reveals the individual from Australia shoving aside photographers and charging at Grande while the cast walked down a yellow carpet surrounded by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being detained", though legal records showed that he was set to attend court on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
Record of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram feed features videos of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney show in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the area last December.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Fans Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Well-being
Many supporters blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed dealing with PTSD after a devastating incident at the finale of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented one more message on Instagram.
Some fans also faulted security officers at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals demanded digital services to block Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Event Details
In clips circulating online, Grande appeared surprised when she was approached by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Many of supporters had assembled in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had waited for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The movie, to be launched on November 21, is the second of a two-part version of the well-known stage musical Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected relationship between two very different sorceresses.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a rosé glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and scored 10 award recognitions, earning a pair for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
